Hunters and Collectors Antiques is an amalgamation of two separate businesses that were always so compatible with each other that their final merging together three years ago resulted in their new location at 681 Military Rd, Mosman. Previously Kathy had traded for ten years under the name of Rustic Rumours at another location in Mosman, Rod also traded from there for approximately three years. Prior to this, both of us had separate businesses in the Eastern Suburbs and inner West. We decided to stay in the Mosman area as we already had a good client base and really love the area.
We have 4 teenage daughters between us, and things can get quite hectic at times! I spend most of my time in the shop and Rod does nearly all of the buying now- we knew when we joined our lives and businesses together that we would be able to separate our tasks into those areas, which we individually do best. Although I must admit that I do miss "the thrill of the chase", the compensation is that I am able to buy a fair amount that comes through the front door.
We like to say that we specialise in not specialising. Our criteria is to have fine quality antiques and collectables. We have no reproductions, no made up items and no "gift shop" items. What we do have is furniture c.1790 - 1930, porcelain, and glass, Australiana, advertising, photo frames, silver, art deco, art nouveau, the exotic, unusual and collectable. We love what we do, antiques are our passion, and this is reflected in our shop.
